We could tell you our crews are careful, but photos make the point faster. What follows are real jobs we’ve completed in Brooklyn, the kind of work we do every week. Each one started with a homeowner who had a problem: no cooling in July, a furnace that rattled, a system past its years. What they ended up with was quieter, cleaner, and working. The before and after shots below aren’t staged portfolio pieces. They’re job-site photos, taken by our techs with their phones, warts and all. You’ll see dust, rust, and old wiring in the befores, and clean, level, properly sealed installs in the afters.

Furnace Swap in a Park Slope Brownstone Closet
Before
After
Before
AfterThe homeowner called because the heat would kick on, run for four minutes, and shut off. Not a thermostat issue, not a filter issue. The original 1998 Goodman had a cracked heat exchanger and the rollout switch kept tripping. In a brownstone, that closet is often someone’s only storage space, so we couldn’t just widen the footprint. We pulled the old unit, built a new return platform three inches to the right, and set the Trane in place with actual clearance. The after photo shows what we always do before we leave: seams sealed with mastic, gas line re-threaded at the union, and the floor swept. Drop cloths went down before the old unit came out, and the shoe covers stayed on until we hit the stoop. The kids were napping upstairs through most of it. We’re quiet when the job allows.
AC Condenser Rescue in Bay Ridge
Before
After
In Bay Ridge, the salt air off the Narrows is hard on condenser coils, but this one wasn’t failing from rust alone. It was buried in cottonwood fuzz from the tree across the yard, plus three years of construction dust from the renovation next door. The homeowner thought they needed a whole new unit. We pulled the disconnect, checked the capacitor first (it tested weak), then washed the coil with a foaming cleaner rated for coastal environments. After we combed the fins back straight and replaced the capacitor, the amp draw dropped to where it should be and the air coming off the top was cold again. Total cost was under $400, a lot less than a replacement quote they’d gotten from someone else. We sent them a photo of the cleanup, as we do on every job. Their dog watched from the kitchen window the entire time, judging us.
Central AC Install in a Ditmas Park Victorian

These big Victorians have high ceilings and almost no wall cavities, which is why so many of them still run on window units. This homeowner wanted central air without gutting the plaster. We ran a trunk line through the attic and dropped supplies through the second-floor ceilings, adding returns in the hallway and two bedrooms. The Carrier unit went in the attic, hung from the rafters with isolation pads so the whole house doesn’t hum. Before we cut a single hole, we gave them a written price, line by line. Shoe covers inside, drop cloths over the stair runner, and tarps under every attic hatch we opened. The after photo shows the ductwork, but what it doesn’t show is the air balance report we ran at the end: every room within two degrees of setpoint. Their two cats spent the day under the bed, which we took as a compliment.
Heat Pump Installation in Williamsburg Condo

Condos have rules. You can’t hang a condenser off the railing, you can’t core through the facade without board approval, and you can’t run lines down the hallway. This Williamsburg place had an old PTAC sleeve that howled on windy nights and barely cooled the living room. We worked with the building’s management company to place the Daikin condenser on the roof, ran the line set down a chase next to the elevator, and mounted the indoor unit on the interior wall near the window. The line hide got painted to match the Benjamin Moore color the owner had on the walls. Now the living room runs at 70 degrees on a June afternoon without sounding like a jet. The C.A.R.E. values aren’t a poster in our office. They’re how we run jobs like this one: ask before moving anything, respect quiet hours, explain the price before the work.
Furnace Tune-Up That Caught a Problem in Sheepshead Bay

This was a seasonal tune-up, not an emergency. The homeowner has been on our maintenance list for three years. The Bryant was running, but the heat exchanger was building soot on the burners, and the flame sensor was slow to prove flame. Left alone, that turns into a rollout condition by January. We cleaned the burners, swapped the sensor, and ran a combustion test with a digital analyzer. Numbers came back tight. We wrote down everything we found, including the filter size and the date we’d recommend the next check. That’s a maintenance visit with us: a flat price, a written report, and nobody on commission trying to sell you a blower motor you don’t need yet. Luis was on this call himself. If the reading had been off, he’d have told the homeowner straight, with the price in writing before anything else happened.
