Carrier AC installation in Brooklyn typically costs between $3,500 and $7,500, depending on the size of your home, the model you choose, and how much ductwork or electrical work is involved. We’re Meadowsweet Heating and Air Brooklyn, an independent Carrier service provider, and we install everything from single-zone ductless units in Park Slope co-ops to full central air systems in Ditmas Park Victorians. Most installations take one to two days, and you’ll get a written price before any work starts.
This page is for Brooklyn homeowners who own a Carrier system or are considering one, and want to know what installation actually looks like: the real costs, how Carrier equipment behaves in our climate, and what a proper install should include. Call (315) 873-2984 for a free estimate, or keep reading to understand what you’re paying for.
How Carrier Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Luis Serrano has seen a lot of Carrier units in Brooklyn basements, backyards, and rooftops over the years. Here’s what actually goes wrong with them, and what we do about it:
- Infinity and Performance series: communication board failures. Carrier’s higher-end Infinity and Performance lines use proprietary communicating systems between the thermostat, air handler, and condenser. When a board loses communication, the unit may refuse to start or run erratically. It’s rarely the compressor. We diagnose the signal path before replacing parts, because a new board won’t fix a damaged low-voltage wire.
- Comfort series: capacitor wear in Brooklyn’s heat. Brooklyn summers push run capacitors hard, especially on rooftop condensers that bake in direct sun for six or eight hours a day. A weak capacitor causes hard starts, humming with no fan, or a compressor that trips the breaker. We replace them with American-made capacitors rated for the same microfarad range, not whatever’s cheapest at the counter.
- Condensate line clogs on basement air handlers. Brooklyn basements are humid. The evaporator coil on Carrier units installed horizontally in a low-clearance basement tends to collect dust and biological growth faster than vertical installs. We clear the line, treat the pan, and adjust the pitch so water actually drains instead of pooling.
- Infinity variable-speed blower motor issues. The ECM motors in Carrier’s Infinity air handlers are efficient and quiet, but when the module fails, some techs quote a full motor replacement at $900 – $1,400. Often the module alone can be replaced for less. We test the motor separately before quoting the bigger job, and we’ll show you the test results.
- Corrosion on coastal rooftop condensers. In neighborhoods like Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, and Red Hook, salt air eats condenser fins faster than anywhere else in the borough. Carrier’s coastal models hold up better, but standard units need fin straightening, coil cleaning, and sometimes a corrosion-resistant coating to keep running efficiently. We flag this early so you’re not surprised in July.

Our Carrier AC Installation Process
- 1
Call and conversation. A live person answers, day or night. You tell us what’s happening with your current system or what you want in a new one. We ask about square footage, floor plan, and how the room actually feels in August. That last one tells us more than a spec sheet.
- 2
Home walkthrough. We come out, measure rooms, look at existing ductwork or ceiling cavities, check the electrical panel, and note where the condenser will sit. We wear shoe covers inside, and we don’t move furniture without asking. If there’s a dog, we ask where he’ll be comfortable while we work.
- 3
Load calculation and written quote. We size the system using Manual J cooling load, not a rule of thumb. You get a written price that covers the equipment, labor, materials, and any electrical or pad work. No surprises. You take a day or a week to decide. We don’t push.
- 4
Installation day. We lay down drop cloths from the entry to the work area. Old equipment comes out, new Carrier unit goes in. We braze with nitrogen flowing through the lines, pull a proper vacuum below 500 microns, check refrigerant charge by subcooling and superheat, and verify airflow. If there are kids in the house, we keep the decibel level down during homework and nap hours where we can.
- 5
Testing and cleanup. We run the system through a full cycle, verify it cools to design temperature, check drain flow, and test the thermostat. Then we clean up. Before we leave, we photograph the work area and the cleanup and send it to you. The floors will look like we were never there.
- 6
Follow-up and guarantee. Every installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right. No runarounds, no fine print.
What Carrier AC Installation Costs in Brooklyn
Here’s what we see for real Carrier jobs in Brooklyn, from straightforward replacements to full new-equipment installs:
- Ductless mini-split, single zone (Comfort 38MURA or similar): $3,500 – $5,500 from wall mount to finish.
- Central AC replacement, 2 – 3 ton (Comfort 24SCA or Performance 24SPA), existing ductwork: $4,500 – $6,500.
- Full central system with new evaporator coil and minor duct modifications, 3 – 4 ton (Performance or Infinity series): $6,000 – $7,500.
- Multi-zone ductless (two or three indoor heads): $6,000 – $7,500, depending on line-set runs and electrical.
What moves the price: whether you have existing ductwork or need new plenums and returns, how far the line set runs from condenser to air handler, the electrical panel’s remaining capacity, and whether you choose a standard, high-efficiency, or Infinity model. The estimate we hand you is the price. Call (315) 873-2984 and we’ll come measure everything. The estimate is free.

AfterWhy Brooklyn Homeowners Call Meadowsweet Heating and Air Brooklyn for Carrier Work
We don’t install Carrier equipment because it’s the only brand we know. We install it because it’s good equipment, and we service nine major brands, including Trane and Lennox, so we’re not married to any one manufacturer’s sales pitch. If a Carrier unit isn’t right for your home, we’ll tell you and explain what is. That independence matters when someone is quoting you a $6,000 job.
The Cedarwell Care Promise is what sets us apart. Every visit includes a written price before work starts, a uniformed background-checked technician, shoe covers and drop cloths inside, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. We’re part of the Cedarwell family of HVAC companies, founded in 2004, and the standards aren’t optional. They’re the job. Luis Serrano will tell you: “Tell me what the room feels like, I can usually figure out the rest from there.” That’s how we start, and that’s how we finish. Call (315) 873-2984 and a live person will answer.
FAQs
No. As an independent Carrier service provider, we follow Carrier’s installation specifications: proper evacuation, correct refrigerant charge, proper line sizing, and documentation. That keeps the manufacturer’s warranty intact. We also register your equipment with Carrier so the full parts warranty applies, because unregistered units often drop to a shorter base warranty period.
Most central AC replacements take one day. Full new system installations with ductwork modifications take two days. Ductless mini-split installs take one day for a single zone, longer for multi-zone depending on line-set routing through masonry, which is common in brownstones and older brick buildings.
If your repair estimate is under $700 and the unit is less than 12 years old and uses R-410A refrigerant (not the older R-22), repair usually makes sense. If the repair is over $1,200, the unit is 15 years old, or the compressor is failing, replacement is usually the better money. We’ll give you numbers for both options and let you decide. Call (315) 873-2984 for an honest assessment.
Yes. Brooklyn’s winters are mild enough that a cold-climate Carrier heat pump can handle most of the heating season, and with Con Edison’s electricity rates and available rebates, it can beat a gas-fired furnace on operating cost for many homes. We’ll run the numbers for your specific scenario before you commit.
We’ll discuss payment options when you get your written estimate. What we promise is that the price we quote is the price you pay, with all labor, materials, and permitting included. No add-ons on the day of the job.
